No Promises
While our longtime customers say that we “fixed” their skin, we aren’t making that promise. Skin and life in general is waaaaaaaaaay too complicated to do that.
Skin regulates our hormones, our ability to digest, and our stress.
It protects us from unseen pathogens, respirates, regulates, and expels toxins. It senses everything from danger to sex. Skin is a major vital organ. The biggest too.
And yet we expect it, above all else, to be pretty. Flawless, even.
But if flawless skin is the goal, why introduce it to chemicals that explode its collagen-producing cells, unbalance the dermal micro biome, and disrupt hormones? Why push ingredients (like magnesium) that are ineffective when applied topically?
One of the most frustrating things about the skincare industry is that it sells people on the idea that skin is nothing but a problematic covering we must cover with chemicals to make perfect. As if we are covered in lawns.
It’s a weird claim that putting something on top of skin – which is made up of dead cells – will fix issues far below surface. Especially since the ingredients in conventional skincare have not been shown by science as ingredients you want in your body – they cause issues actually. Many water-based formulas contain formaldehyde releasers that are toxic to living beings.
Peppy DIY influencers and beautifully branded corporations don’t tell you that the science behind their products is super sketchy and hard on animals. Magnesium: Not bio available when applied topically. Retinol: Actually now regulated by the EU because it is more irritating and unnecessary than it is helpful. Sea buckthorn is high in vitamin C and very irritating to people with Rosacea.
The industry doesn’t explain that many skin issues are symptoms of a deeper problem that have to be addressed through diet, stress reduction, and movement. They don’t tell you that the most effective way to hydrate your skin is to drink water with your mouth – not by pressing it against tiny passageways that don’t naturally accept water. You’re kind of waterproof, did you know that?
Persephone’s Ball is about skin health. We know that whatever chemical, molecule, or compound makes it past the defensive layer that is the stratum corneum will eventually make its way to internal organs. We exist to help heal damaged skin and set the foundation for healthy skin regeneration. We use butters and oils that have bio-available benefits such as long chain fatty acids and antioxidants. But it’s what we don’t include that makes the biggest difference. We’re not here to make you younger, tighter, or more mate-worthy.
Our products offer a haven from irritating preservatives, fillers, and factory-made fragrances. Because own reactive, dry, angry, tight, irritated skin reacts poorly to man-made chemicals, we’ve learned how to avoid them.
We use the very best oils and butters that we can find and we don’t cheap it out with filler ingredients to bulk up the product size. Everything we make and sell, we use daily. We want nice things sold by nice people.
We make no promises that you will glow, tone, or take years off of your face. We promise to ALWAYS offer what we demand for our own skin: Clean, top of the line, well-sourced, ethically harvested, plant-based ingredients that set you up for healthy skin, don’t interrupt it from it’s natural process, and allow it to regulate itself.
